Q: What options do I have for repairing/restoring scratched windows?
Basically, you have three options: 1) Replacing the glass - which is the most costly option - this will give you brand new windows but no protection from future glass damage unless an anti-graffiti film is applied to the window. 2) Polishing out the scratches. This is normally less expensive than glass replacement, but can leave some distortion on the window and as above, needs to be finished off with an anti-graffiti film for protection from future damage. 3) Installation of anti-graffiti film. Anti-graffiti film is the most cost efficient option as it covers the existing damage in most instances to the same level as polishing, and in addition, your windows are protected from future scratch damage.
Q: What exactly is anti-graffiti film and what does it do?
Our anti-graffiti film “GlassProtect’, is made of extremely tough multiple layer PET film and acts as a sacrificial barrier between the window and the instrument used for scratching it (vandals often use spark plugs, sharp rocks etc.) In addition, the film blocks out 95% of UV-rays and provides some protection should someone walk into the glass as it helps hold the glass fragments together should it ever get broken. Our GlassProtect film can also be customised through printing to include logos, advertising images, community messaging etc.
Q: Can you remove mineral deposits, acid etching or chemical damage?
Yes. These forms of damage are easily removed.
Q: How much does your GlassProtect film cost to install?
All cases of glass damage are different but generally glass restoration by installing anti-graffiti film is at least 50% less expensive than window replacement, and a lot less disruptive to your business.
Q: Can you see the anti-graffiti film after it has been installed on the window?
Our anti graffiti film is optically pure and when installed does not impair the visual look of the glass.
Q: Does window films suit all types of glass?
No. Window film cannot be applied on textured and coated glass.
Q: Can tinted glass be filmed?
Yes.
Q: Do GlassMasters install security type films?
Yes we do. Often insurance companies will insist that you install a security film on the inside of your windows to prevent smash-and-grab crimes. Please enquire GlassMasters about a suitable solution for you.
